Vacation. Gotta go. Need one. But money's tight.
I've said for awhile this economy will be the best thing that ever
happened to us. We'll sweat and it will hurt...but we'll get back
to the things that matter. The vacation filled with itinerary-oriented,
expensive activities will probably shift to meaningful,
memory-making experiences.
I can't tell you what I got for Christmas in 1977, but I can tell you
about sleeping in the trunk of an El Dorado on Pickwick Lake.
I remember every detail. Oh my goodness, was that ever FUN!
Here's 5 ideas for an awesome vacation right here in the South...
within a short driving distance of anywhere you're probably
reading this from...
1. Float the Hiwassee River. Literally, in an inner tube. Call our
friend Mary Maul at mountainviewmarina.com and she can tell
you all about it.
2. Rent a houseboat. Dale Hollow Lake...Lake Cumberland
are just two of the places with houseboat rental.
Sunset Marina & Resort on Dale Hollow Lake,
State Dock Marina on Lake Cumberland.
3. Be a kid again. Slide the largest inflatable waterslide in the
world. Stay the weekend in a treehouse. Cadiz, Kentucky. Prizer Point
4. Go sailing in the Appalachian Mountains. Can you imagine?
Get with Watauga Lakeshore Resort...
5. Scuba dive the clearest lake you'll ever see. Ask Burnside
Marina (606) 561-4223 (they like talking to you) near Monticello,
Kentucky on Lake Cumberland. Wow.
Take a vacation. Breathe a bit. Make a memory or two this summer
2013.
